What it calculates

Your monthly reserve fund and the amount accrued since your first year with the same employer, with a five-year projection.

What you need

• Start date with the company.
• Calculation date.
• Your average monthly pay in the period.

How it is calculated

• 8.33% of your contribution pay, one month of salary per year, from month 13 with the same employer (Labor Code, art. 196).
• The employer pays it monthly with the salary, or deposits it at the IESS if you ask to accumulate it.
• To withdraw the IESS balance you need 36 or more reserve fund contributions; if unemployed, two months after leaving.

2026 figures

At the basic wage of USD 482, the reserve fund is USD 40.15 a month.

Frequently asked questions

When am I entitled to the reserve fund?

After one year with the same employer: it is paid from month 13. It also counts for the employer retirement pension.
