What it calculates

Your 14th salary, also called the school bonus: one basic wage per year, or a share proportional to the days you worked in your region's period.

What you need

• Your region: Coast and Galápagos, or Highlands and Amazon.
• Start date and calculation date.

How it is calculated

• One twelfth of the basic wage per month worked, paid monthly unless you ask for one payment (Labor Code, art. 113).
• Part-time workers receive it in proportion to their hours, over 240 hours a month.
• Employer and IESS retirees also receive it.
• It pays no IESS contributions and is exempt from income tax.
